Lt. Dr. B. Paulin Ebenezer
Principal
Lt. Dr. B. Paulin Ebenezer holds a B.Com., PGDCA, B.D., and M.Th. in Systematic Theology from Gospel for Asia Biblical Seminary, affiliated with the Senate of Serampore University, and a Ph.D. in Christian Theology from SHUATS. She has distinguished herself academically by receiving six academic awards during her Bachelor of Divinity studies, marking a significant achievement in the history of the Senate of Serampore University. Driven by a deep passion and calling to serve children and youth, She has reached and impacted thousands through teaching, training, mentoring, and ministry. Her calling as a Teacher of the Word of God has led her to serve as a Biblical teacher and trainer, equipping people with a strong foundation in God's Word.
For her doctoral research, she explored the theme “Suffering of Palliative Patients – A Theological and Psychosocial Analysis,” bringing together theological reflection and psychosocial perspectives on human suffering. She is also commissioned as a Lieutenant and serves as an Associate NCC Officer at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, contributing to the development of discipline, leadership, character, and service among young people.
With 25 years of ministerial experience and two decades of experience in teaching and training in Bible College and at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Dr. Paulin Ebenezer continues to serve with a strong passion to reach, teach, train, and transform lives through the love of Christ. Her ministry and academic journey reflect a commitment to equipping the next generation, strengthening faith, developing leaders, and making Christ known through teaching and service.
Dr. A. Iven Jeba Singh
Dean – Academic Affairs
Dr. A. Iven Jeba Singh studied B. A. in English Literature at the Scott Christian College in Nagercoil, Tamil Nādu and while studying here he embraced God’s calling for full-time ministry. He pursued advanced studies, earning a Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.) and a Master of Theology (M.Th.) in History of Christianity from Serampore University in Kolkatta, West Bengal.
His academic pursuits led him to complete his PhD from the University of Geneva in Switzerland in the field of Ecumenism. He is a recipient of the World Council of Churches (WCC) international scholarship for his PhD research at the University of Geneva.
Before joining KATE in 2023, he taught at several theological institutions viz. Gospel for Asia Biblical Seminary, Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute and India Baptist Theological Seminary. His research interests encompass a wide range of issues in the area of History of Christianity, Ecumenism and Mission. Some of his key areas of focus include ecumenism at the grassroots, indigenization and Christianity, mission and reconciliation. He is an active member of the Church History Association of India (CHAI) which helps him to stay connected with the academic community, engage in collaborative research and contribute to the development of his field.
Dr. Jonali Doley
Professor of Missiology
Dr. Jonali Doley serves as Professor of Missiology at KATE. She holds BD, MTh, MA, and PhD degrees in Missiology, specializing in American Baptist Missions and Churches. Before joining KATE, she served as Assistant Professor of Missiology at Susamacher Theological College, Bhopal (2003–2004), Satyaniketan Dharamvigyan Mahavidyalaya, Allahabad (2004–2005), and the Gospel and Plough Institute of Theology (GPIT), Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS), Prayagraj (2008–2025). With over 23 years of experience in teaching and ministry, Dr. Doley is a dedicated academician committed to teaching, research, and student development in Missiology and theological studies. She has held significant academic responsibilities, including serving as Academic Coordinator for the PhD Program (2023–2025), teaching Professional Ethics in the PhD Program, and supervising MTh and PhD students in their academic and research pursuits. Dr. Doley has contributed to theological scholarship through research articles published in the Allahabad Theological Journal. Her research interests include Christian mission, cultural anthropology, and contextual mission studies. She is committed to fostering academic excellence and promoting quality research. Her academic vision is to contribute to the intellectual, holistic, and spiritual formation of students, preparing them to become effective scholars, leaders, and mission practitioners in society.
Dr. A. Sasi Kumar
Mission Coordinator
Rev. Sasi Kumar has received the call of God during his teen age and committed his life to serve the Lord. He has obtained Bachelor of Theology & Bachelor of Divinity from Serampore University. MA Philosophy, Religion & MA Mass communication from Madurai Kamaraj University. He has obtained MTh in Christian Theology from Believers Church Theological Seminary. MPhil Philosophy, PhD- Religion, Philosophy & Culture from Bharathidasan University. He qualified for UGC-SET in the subject area of Communication & Journalism. He has published numerous articles in national and international journals. He has served as a faculty at Gospel for Asia Theological Seminary and Indian Theological seminary. He also served in Christian Media for more than twenty years. His areas of specialization in research include Media Education, Religious Education and Christology.
Mr. Varghese V.C.
Lecturer – Old Testament
Mr. Varghese V.C. was dedicated to God's ministry even before his birth by his devout parents. During his B.Sc. studies, he received God's call and committed his life to Christian ministry. He earned his Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) from BTC, Pathankot, and after completing his studies, served as a missionary in the state of Odisha for four years. He subsequently obtained his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from HBI, Chennai, and taught at the South Asia Leadership Training & Development Centre (SALTDC), Pipariya, for four years. He later pursued his Master of Theology (M.Th.) in Old Testament from SAIACS, Bangalore. His ministry experience and the growing challenges faced by Christians in North India inspired his M.Th. research on biblical responses to persecution. Following the completion of his M.Th., he taught for two years at SALTDC and another two years at Susamachar Theological College & Seminary (STCS), Bhopal. Before joining the faculty of Karunya Academy for Theological Education, he served at Bethesda Prayer Centre for two years, helping people renew their faith and find strength amid personal struggles and trauma. His academic and ministerial interests lie in equipping and mentoring young people to take up the mantle of leadership and service in the Kingdom of God.
Mr. David Jesudasan
Lecturer – Pastoral Care and Counseling
Mr. David Jesudasan holds B.Sc. in Hotel Management from the Institute of Hotel Management Bhopal, MBA in Human Resource and Finance Management from Rajalakshmi Engineering College, and MSc Psychology from Madras University (Distance). Prior to entering theological education and ministry, he worked for over three and a half years in the corporate sector with The Royal Bank of Scotland and Infosys, serving as a Process Specialist. Responding to God’s call to ministry, he pursued Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.) at Madras Theological Seminary and College, where he was recognized with a Senate Award in Christian Theology for academic excellence. He subsequently completed Master of Theology (M.Th.) in Pastoral Care and Counselling from the United Theological College. His academic interests lie in Pastoral Care and Counselling, Christian Apologetics, Youth Ministry, Psychology, Spiritual Formation, and the integration of theology and contemporary human concerns.
Mr. Jeba Justin Lukas
Lecturer – History of Christianity
Mr. Jeba Justin Lukas received God’s call to ministry at the age of seventeen. In obedience to this call, he pursued his Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) at Rhema Bible College and Mission Institute (RBC&MI). After completing his B.Th., he served with Youth for Christ (YFC) Ministries for one year, ministering among young people. He then pursued higher theological studies and earned his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Mission India Theological Seminary (MITS), Nagpur, Maharashtra, and his Master of Theology (M.Th.) in History of Christianity from Ebenezer Theological Seminary (ETS), Ayoor, Kerala. He also studied Library and Information Science at the South Asian Institute of Leadership and Cultural Studies (SALICS), Coimbatore, and holds recognition as a Registered Librarian under the Asian Theological Association (ATA). He served at Trivandrum Bible College (TBC) for four years as a Lecturer and Chief Librarian. He is passionate about teaching the Word of God and serving the Lord, especially among young people. As a sports enthusiast, he uses sports as a means to connect with youth and share the Gospel.
Ms. Hena Jancy Mary
Lecturer – Old Testament
Ms. Hena Jancy Mary completed her B.Sc. in Geology and later responded to God's call to theological education and ministry by pursuing a Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.) from Bethel Bible College, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, and a Master of Theology (M.Th.) in Old Testament from Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute, Chennai. Her M.Th. dissertation, “The Priestly Role of Zipporah: A Feminist Deconstructive Reading of Exodus 4:24–26,” reflects her interest in Old Testament studies and biblical interpretation. She has advanced training in Biblical Hebrew, Biblical Greek, and Sanskrit, with academic interests in the Old Testament, Biblical Archaeology, and the Ancient Near East (Ancient West Asia). During her B.D. studies, she received four awards for academic and co-curricular excellence. Passionate about youth ministry and theological education, she is committed to nurturing students in both spiritual formation and academic excellence, helping them develop a deep faith in God, a critical understanding of Scripture, and the ability to engage thoughtfully with contemporary challenges. Beyond academics, she enjoys singing, playing musical instruments, drawing, and artistic expression.
Dr. Sheila Daniel

Dr. Sheila had completed her post graduate in Social Work from Stella Maris College, Madras University, and Post Graduate Diploma in Psychiatric Social Work (D.P.S.W, which is equivalent to M.Phil.) from NIMHANS and Ph.D. in Social Work from Bangalore University. She was an associate Professor in Psychiatric Social Work in St. John’s Medical College Hospital for a period of 33 years. She has been working at SEESHA (Samithi for Education, Environment, Social & Health Action) since January, 2012, which is an N.G.O. Currently involved in Counselling of Students and Community patients, Student Enrichment programmes, De-Addiction of patients and deals with patients and families of Mentally Ill. She has done research in 4 areas in the field of ‘Alcohol Abuse/ Dependence’, Psychosocial Correlates of those who had Attempted Suicide’, ‘Self- Reported and Behavioural Problems and Suicide Ideation among Pre-University Students in a College at Bangalore’, ‘Cadaver Organ Donation’, Publications in the field of ‘Alcohol Dependence’, ‘Grief Counselling’, ‘Boundary Violations in Therapist patient Relationship’ & Suicide Ideation’.

Ms. S. Usha has Master’s degree in Social Work specialization in Medical & Psychiatric Social Work (Clinical counselling), and P. G. Certificate Course in Psychological Counselling from Christian Counselling Centre, Vellore. Currently pursuing PhD in MSW in the area of psycho social problems of late adolescence. She is having ten years of teaching experience in Value Education and has a ministerial & counselling experience of Eight years in Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences and currently working as Faculty of Psychology.

Mr. J. Sam Godwin

Mr. J. Sam Godwin has completed B.Th in Good News Mission Bible College, Tirunelveli and the M.Div in ACTS Institute, Bangalore. Having ministry experience of 14 years in the area of mission and training in discipleship. Currently he is serving among the youth at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences as Senior Life Coach for the past 13 years.
Dr. Saji Kumar K. P.
Guest Faculty:
Dr. Saji Kumar K. P. is serving as Principal in India Baptist Theological Seminary. He did his MA in English Literature; BD and later MTh in Counseling under Senate of Serampore. He did PhD in Psychology from MG University in Kerala. He has been a teacher and trainer in counseling for more than fifteen years. He has been married to Beula K. Thankachan and they are blessed with two boys named Evan and Evin. Presently he is also the Director of Indian Institute of Pastoral Counseling. He has presented seminar papers and published articles related to counseling in various national and international renowned journals. He has written a couple of books previous to this publication, New Generation Teenage and Lessons of Christian Education.
